But an exclusive Five News investigation has uncovered dogs being bred in appalling conditions.
They are then sold under the pretence that they have been raised by genuine, decent breeders.
Earlier this year, Five News exposed puppy farms that mistreated dogs and sold them to Pet Shops.
Now we can reveal that dogs from these kind of farms are being sold privately from people's homes.
